Have you noticed how much walking Robinson Cano does during an at bat? I've seen batters step out after a pitch. I've even seen ones walk back around the ump if the momentum of their swing-and-miss carries them over the plate. But it seems that Robbie takes a lap after every swing. My favorite moments during these trips come when the catcher tries throwing back to the pitcher and has to wait out RC's loping walkabout.
But with his much improved average this year, I'm not complaining.

Though Robby's walkabout is hilarious, his taking a pitch is even better. But that's not the main reason for this comment. My favorite Yankee pitch taking stance has to be big tex's. Right after the pitch crosses home, his big step out of the box, faces directly at the camera and gives us all a nice crotch grab. As if he's taunting the pitcher, fielders, viewers, who knows who. This occurs almost identically lefty and righty. A+ Tex.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of taking pitches, what is with this ump calling pitches a foot off the plate strikes? The worst part about it - having to listen to Michael Kay analyze the umpiring. I cannot stand listening to him talk sports when only physical activity he's done in the last 40 years is run to the buffet line. Although I have to show some love to a fellow Fordham Alumnus.
