Nick Johnson [2009, FLA Marlins] HR: 2, RBI: 18 AVG: .279
[2008, WAS Nationals] HR: 6, RBI: 44 AVG: .295
Jim Thome [2009, CWS & LAD] HR: 23, RBI: 77 AVG: ~.242
[2008, CWS] HR: 34, RBI: 90 AVG: .245
Now, here I'll return to the name game. I know I'd feel a lot more comfortable heading into the season with a name like Thome sitting in my DH spot, full aware that the spot would be occupied by a dying star. Here's the icing: Thome signed with the Twins for $1.5mil, Nick the Stick with the Yanks for $5.5mil. A question that will plague my entire season: could that four-million dollars have been used to find some middle ground with Johnny Damon?
And on exactly that note...
ReplyDeleteRandy Winn (SFG) HR: 2 RBI: 51 AVG: .262
Jermaine Dye (CWS) HR: 27 RBI: 81 AVG: 251
These two are the same age. I'm honestly not sure who plays a better outfield at this stage of their respective games, but if Dye signs for anywhere under 3.5mil this is another travesty.
